SQUAD & MATCH PREVIEW | MIDDLESEX V SUSSEX SHARKS

Middlesex return to Lord’s for the Metro Bank One-Day Cup as Sussex Sharks visit the Home of Cricket.

The seaxes will be looking to open their account following a six-wicket defeat to Somerset in the opener at Radlett Cricket Club on Wednesday.

Interim Men’s First Team Coach, Dane Vilas, has named an unchanged squad of 13, which can be found below.

There were some great individual performances mid-week as Josh De Caires (71) and Jack Davies (64) both recorded half-centuries, whilst Captain Ben Geddes made 40 at better than a run-a-ball…

With the ball, Noah Cornwell led the way, taking 2/59 from his 10 overs, whilst there were wickets for Josh Little (1/36) and Henry Brookes (1/43), who returned to the fold after injury.

As for the visitors, their campaign began with a disappointing defeat to Durham in their opening contest, going down by 51 runs at Chester-Le-Street, but they bounced back well to get their campaign up and running in dramatic fashion as they defeated Kent Spitfires by three wickets with 10 balls to spare at Arundel thanks to an 88-run stand between Northern Irishman, Jack Carson (50 not out), and Archie Lenham (45 not out). Former Middlesex wicketkeeper, John Simpson (50) also scored a half-century of his own.

These sides haven’t met in List-A cricket since 2022 and it was a day that Middlesex would want to forget as the Sharks amassed 400/4 in their 50 overs thanks to big centuries from Tom Alsop (189) and Cheteshwar Pujara (132). Middlesex were all out for 243 in reply and went down by 157 runs at Hove.

Following a good crowd at Radlett on Wednesday, we are hoping for another huge support tomorrow at Lord’s. Tickets can be purchased HERE.

If you can’t make it to Lord’s, then you can watch every ball live on the Enhanced Live Stream via the match centre on the Middlesex website.
