EastEnders spoilers follow.

Linda Carter will get an unexpected ally on EastEnders next week, and she’ll need all the support she can get as two big problems come her way. The question is – who will help her out?

The former Queen Vic landlord has been having some issues in her love life in recent months, as she decided to not pursue another relationship with former flame Max Branning despite their evident chemistry.

Furthermore, her relationship with son Johnny has become strained amid his money troubles. These two issues will be at the forefront of next week’s scenes, but Linda gets a surprising ally in the form of a familiar face.

With Max cementing his bond with Cindy Beale (though only through jealousy), Linda too becomes a little bit envious, but she gets some support from Grant Mitchell, who is back in Walford to visit Nigel Bates.

Grant tells Linda to pamper herself, and also offers some advice regarding the situation with Johnny. Linda learns about Johnny’s financial woes, and makes a bold move to help him out by selling her share of the Fox & Hair salon.

After organising the sale with Denise Fox, Linda offers the money to Johnny, but he refuses her help and urges her to stay out of his business. Grant again tries to lift Linda’s spirits, but she reaches breaking point this time around.

After snapping at Grant, Linda heads to the café to give Johnny a piece of her mind. After some truths are uttered, will Linda and Johnny’s relationship be back to normal? And will her bond with Grant develop?

“Linda’s not having a good week at all,” says our EastEnders insider. “She struggles to hide her envy as Max and Cindy take their romance to the next level, and she can’t even reconcile with her son Johnny by offering to help his business.

“Luckily Grant is sticking around in Walford for now, and is on hand to help her with both these issues – could he be Linda’s knight in shining armour?”

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
