Breast cancer photography exhibition to open in Edinburgh

Created by artist and photographer Caroline Sikkenk, the exhibition features portraits of women who have experienced breast cancer, exploring themes including identity, resilience and hair loss.

For some of the women featured, including model Jackie McRae, the Western General Hospital holds particular significance as the place where they received treatment.

The exhibition comes to Edinburgh following a private showing at the Scottish Parliament and will be displayed in a hospital setting for the first time.

Lisa Allen, from the Pink Ribbon Foundation, said: “The Pink Ribbon Foundation is proud to be partnering with the Western General to bring each of the moving portraits in this exhibition to a setting where they can provide inspiration and strength.

“We see this as a truly fitting location for BOLD and are grateful to everyone involved for helping us bring the exhibition back to Edinburgh and to a unique place like the Tonic Arts Gallery.”

A launch event will take place at the gallery on May 7 from 5pm to 7pm.
