Olivia Wilde’s fans have rushed to her defence after the A-lister was savagely trolled. The Don’t Worry Darling director, 42, who used to date One Direction star, Harry Styles, 32, sent folk into a frenzy this week when she rocked up on the red carpet to promote her latest film, The Invite.
In a video, which has now gone viral, Olivia, sporting a white t-shirt and black ruffled skirt, speaks about the film, which the actress directed ahead of the San Francisco International Film Festival. However, it was the mum-of-two’s appearance that fans were most interested in, with several accusing Olivia of ‘looking too thin’ while some baselessly speculated that she was ‘using Ozempic’.

Hitting back at the cruel comments, the actress’ fans defended her, with some blaming the lighting on the red carpet for her ‘changed appearance’. Meanwhile, others suggested the trolls leave Olivia alone and “look at people on the inside, not the outside.”
“It’s unflattering lighting and a bad camera lens. She otherwise looks beautiful and is aging gracefully,” one wrote on X. “I think it may have been the camera settings, or a filter of whoever took that video. I saw a news clip where she didn’t look as bad,” agreed another.
A third said: “People need to toss off sometimes and leave people be” while a fourth commented: “Why is this even a post? She’s beautiful. We’re living in such a world where everyone has to be perfect. You can’t be too fat; you can’t be too thin…Like, who cares?”

Olivia, who is one of the world’s most photographed women, has spoken out about the scrutiny of living life in the spotlight before.
Speaking to Elle magazine in 2022 when she was dating Harry – who she was directing in Don’t Worry Darling and who is now engaged to Zoe Kravitz – Olivia, who is 10 years younger than the singer, didn’t hold back.
“It’s as though the general public feels that if you are making something that you’re selling to the public, you somehow have accepted that your life will be torn to shreds by a pack of wolves,” she said.
“No, that’s actually not part of the job description,” she added. “Never was.”

Prior to that, the Wake Up star advocated the importance of body positivity while speaking to Vogue.
Stressing the importance of feeling confident, she said: “We want to celebrate the idea of loving one’s own body and feeling confident because you feel beautiful, and the idea that the rituals we practice for ourselves are opportunities to celebrate ourselves.
“Beauty isn’t an obligation in order to interact with the rest of the world,” Wilde added at the time. “This is about interacting with ourselves and celebrating ourselves.”
