The sixth Kidical Mass event since 2023, held on Sunday, April 26 in Hove, saw more than 270 people take part, highlighting the demand for improved everyday cycling routes across the city.
Iliana Koutsou of Bricycles said: “With more investment in cycle lanes and safer crossings for people riding bicycles, we can encourage more people to travel by bicycle, improving people’s health and local air quality.”
Participants set off from four start points—Hove Cemetery, Hove Park, Wish Park and Stoneham Park—before meeting at the Peace Statue and following a circular route through Hove.
Mr Blinkhorn said: “Although the A259 Hove seafront lane will be a welcome improvement when delivered, much of Hove is dominated by car traffic, making cycling challenging for people.
“Our city can be even better for cycling with continuing investment from the Council.”
The high turnout reflects growing public support for safer streets and more accessible cycling infrastructure across Brighton and Hove.
The ride was organised by Bricycles, Brighton Bike Hub, Brighton Multicultural Women’s Cycle Club, Clean Air for Brighton and Hove and the OSR Bike Train.
