MyBuilder.com is urging homeowners to be mindful of hedgehogs this spring as part of its ‘Help the Hedgehogs’ campaign, which highlights daily dangers hedgehogs face in gardens.
The advice comes during Hedgehog Awareness Week, running from May 3 to May 9, which aims to raise awareness of the species’ declining numbers and ways the public can help.

Andy Simms from MyBuilder.com said: “It can be difficult to know how to make meaningful contributions to saving wildlife, but actually, simple changes in our gardens can be a brilliant place to start – and with big results.
“What’s great is that it’s easy to do – and not expensive.
“From covering open water and fitting a ramp in ponds to providing a little food, we can all make these changes and do our part.”
Ms Vass, chief executive for the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, said: “Every year, thousands of hedgehogs are needlessly injured or killed in our gardens by mowers, strimmers, pesticides, netting and uncovered drains.
“Much of this can be avoided with just a few simple actions.
“With hedgehog populations in steep decline across the UK, we’re urging people to act now – a few small changes can make a life-saving difference to a hedgehog.”
