Police and firefighters were called to Milton Crescent and Tennyson Road, Farnworth, at around 11am on the morning of Saturday May 2 to reports of a crash.
Officers have now announced that a woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries while a man in his 30s was arrested.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “One woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains for treatment.
“A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving and causing serious injury by careless driving.

“To help understand the full circumstances, officers are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
“They are keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident or of the moments leading up to the incident.”
Firefighters from Farnworth and Leigh Fire Stations were also called to the scene and helped to rescue the injured woman.
They said that another injured person “self-rescued” from one of the cars before they arrived.
A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Two fire engines from Farnworth fire station, along with the enhanced rescue unit from Leigh, promptly attended the scene which involved a collision between two cars.
“One casualty self-rescued before the arrival of the fire service, while crews extricated a female casualty from another vehicle who was then handed over to North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital.
“The road was closed by Greater Manchester Police while firefighters worked to make the area safe.
“Firefighters were at the scene for approximately one hour and five minutes.”
