Wye and Usk Foundation’s Louis Macdonald – Ames made a video about tackling invasive species on our rivers.
The video featured Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam, and Giant Hogweed.
He explained where and when to tackle the different species, what methods to use, the all important regulations that protect the aquatic environment, and also some of successes he’s had.
He was especially proud of his Giant Hogweed ‘trophy kill’ (pictured) and said even though it can commonly be confused with our native harmless version, he’d rather you contacted him and it proved to be a false alarm than to miss a Giant Hogweed.
