A man has died after a tractor crashed into parked vehicles and a hedge after being driven through fields near Tewkesbury.

The incident happened in Fiddington late on Saturday night (August 9) and a man has been arrested.

Gloucestershire police said it is understood that a man was driving a tractor through fields and it collided with hedges and some stationary vehicles at around 11.25pm.

A passenger, a man in his 50s, suffered serious injuries in the incident near Monks Lane, where a vintage motor show had been taking place that day.

Members of the public provided first aid at the scene, followed by police officers who also treated the man before the arrival of paramedics.

Unfortunately, despite efforts to save the man’s life, he was pronounced dead.

His next of kin and the coroner have been informed.

Police said in a statement: “A man aged in his 20s, who is believed to have been driving the tractor, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through alcohol.

“The Severn Vale Vintage Club annual show had taken place at the location yesterday (Saturday).

“Due to the incident, the organiser has said the event will be closed today (Sunday).”

“Any online purchases will be re-funded in due course. Please accept our apologies.”
