RACES WITHIN RACES: THE FIGHT FOR AZZURRA
Diego Sevilla’s second day in the break was rewarded with 18 mountains points, giving him a 15 point lead in the KOM competition at stage end. Jonas Vingegaard, who took the race by the scruff of its neck on the final category 3 climb, is Sevilla’s closest rival, and the only rider capable of overhauling him today.
The Borovets Pass is the first category 2 climb of the race, with twice as many points on offer.
18, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 will go to the first, second etc rider over the summit respectively. Expect Sevilla to try for the early break, but he’s likely to have a bit more competition than yesterday.
