Four Coronation Street favourites are set to take centre stage in the coming months on the ITV soap. Corrie boss Kate Brooks has teased more than one new storyline, saying they are “massive” for the show. With that, she revealed four characters that will be featuring in huge scenes ahead.
Viewers will be seeing plenty more of couple Sally and Tim Metcalfe. But speaking to The Mirror, Kate warned the pair could be tested with a “curveball” thrown their way.
It’s thought Christina Boyd could also be somehow linked to the plot. Meanwhile, Bernie Winter will also be centre to her own “massive” plot, that will also involve Kit Green and Bernie’s other family members.

With that, Kate also referenced big scenes ahead for Debbie Webster that she called “phenomenal”. With this plot, Bernie and Christina will also involved.
Kate revealed: “Christina, Glenda, Sally, Debbie, Bernie, those five women are just phenomenal actors, and the warmth and the comedy that they all emanate, is just contagious. It won’t just be Debbie at the front and centre.
“There’s a massive storyline coming up for Bernie further down the line, and which will involve Kit and her family dynamic. That’s too far ahead, but certainly late spring, early summer.
“There’s a massive story for Sally and Tim that comes to the to the fore, and it’s a story that tests them as people, test them as a couple, but tests them as foster parents as well. It’s a bit of a curveball, and it comes from slightly left field, but absolutely upends their lives.
“It’s how they navigate that situation going forward. Sally and Tim are so beloved, and I just adore them. And it’s seeing them in a slightly different position than what we’ve seen them in before.

“That story will also dovetail further down the line with a Christina story. Christina and George are a really great, strong couple in the show. There’s a connection there as well.”
More details will be revealed sooner to the storylines airing, with Kate remaining coy over the full details for the time being. That said, it’s shaping up to be a big year on the cobbles for the mentioned characters.
Also set to be revealed is Theo Silverton’s killer, after his murder in a recent episode. Kate confirmed that in the coming months we finally find out who committed the crime and why, while cast members have teased the culprit will surprise fans.
