Big names in who missed the cut at the PGA Championship
Here’s a few players who will certainly not be around at the weekend…
Garrick Higgo 69-76 (+5)
The only player below the cut line who posted an under-par round. As it turns out, that two-shot penalty on Thursday was the difference between him playing two more days and heading home early.
Tommy Fleetwood 72-73 (+5)
Fleetwood shot a pair of 62s when the PGA Tour last came to a rainy, soft Aronimink in 2018. This was basically a different course, and the Englishman could only muster two birdies across his 36 holes.

Robert MacIntyre 70-75 (+5)
The Scot conjured three birdies on Friday, but sandwiched them all with bogeys or worse. A second missed major cut in a row will hurt MacIntyre.
Wyndham Clark 75-70 (+5)
A peculiar major championship record. Played in 18, won one, missed the cut in nine, and received a ban from Oakmont for smashing up their locker room in another.
Akshay Bhatia 71-74 (+5)
The left-hander is a three-time PGA Tour champion before 25 but his major record so far reads six missed cuts in 11 attempts, which is just dreadful.
Russell Henley 72-73 (+5)
His last three major appearances are T10, T10, T3, and it feels more of a when than if Henley will win a major. It won’t be here, though.
Keegan Bradley 74-72 (+6)
Perhaps Bradley can finally get the Ryder Cup heartache out of his mind after the US announced their succession plan with Jim Furyk, but his golf is not as strong right now as it was when he was in contention to play on his own team at Bethpage.
Viktor Hovland 74-72 (+6)
Largely considered one of the best current players in the world without a major victory on his CV. That will not change here.
Tyrrell Hatton 72-74 (+6)
A surprise, because he finished T3 at the Masters. But not a surprise because his last two PGA Championship results were in the 60s. Indicative of his LIV Golf form this season, to be fair.

Gary Woodland 72-74 (+6)
Whatever happens, Woodland’s comeback is one of the golfing stories of the year, but he was one of many former major champions to struggle here.
Sepp Straka 73-73 (+6)
Nine bogeys and a double across his 36 holes put paid to Straka’s chances. The Ryder Cup star’s major record of late has been woeful.
JJ Spaun 70-76 (+6)
The US Open champion was the last man standing at an even more fiendish test than this at Oakmont last year and started well, but things unraveled badly on Friday.
Bryson DeChambeau 76 (+6)
The homemade “BD3D” irons didn’t work at Aronimink, and three finishing birdies saved DeChambeau from finishing in double figures over par. It didn’t, however, stop him from missing a second successive major cut for the first time since 2017.

Tom McKibbin 74-73 (+7)
The Northern Irishman isn’t having the best season on LIV, where a T5 in Mexico was the only result worth writing home about. Couldn’t justify the PGA of America’s invite.
Adam Scott 72-76 (+8)
In a few weeks’ time, the Australian will become just the second player after Jack Nicklaus to play in 100 consecutive majors. Ninety-nine is not one he’ll look back on with any kind of fondness.
Billy Horschel 74-74 (+8)
Still recovering from the surgery that saw him miss much of last summer. Would be great to see him back to his best.
Jacob Bridgeman 74-74 (+8)
Held off Rory Mcllroy (and 70 others) to win his maiden PGA Tour title at the Genesis Invitational in February and rocket into the world’s top 20. But his early major record now reads three missed cuts from four starts.
Max Homa 75-77 (+12)
The American failed to take advantage of a late entry into this field after Phil Mickelson’s withdrawal. Three top-10 finishes in 26 major starts is simply not good enough for a player of Homa’s ability.
Marco Penge 75-77 (+12)
The big-hitting Englishman has been suffering with illness in recent weeks. At least he’ll now have a couple of extra days to lie down.
One other thing…
You’ll notice one name not on this list who has been a mainstay in recent months.
Congratulations to Cam Smith for making his first major cut since the 2024 US Open. It looks like those “devastating” changes are working…
