Charlie Appleby retains the utmost confidence in Notable Speech and is backing the classy colt to add another Group 1 to his tally before the end of his career, despite defeat in the July Cup last time.

Last year’s 2,000 Guineas and Sussex Stakes winner was supplemented for the race and sent off favourite to excel on his first time at any other trip than a mile, but failed to produce his best when only fifth to shock winner No Half Measures.

Before then, he had finished fourth in the Lockinge and Queen Anne Stakes and Appleby is considering returning to a mile for the Aga Khan Studs Prix Jacques le Marois on Sunday, with the quick ground conditions expected to suit.
