A peregrine falcon chick that was the last to hatch at a cathedral has died.

The Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust said the fourth chick “could not get the food it needed”, but the other three seemed to be doing well.

The chick was alive on Friday “but it did not appear to survive the night”, the trust added, with the recent cold weather also possibly to blame.

“Boudica and Alban have proven to be very good parents, so hopefully the [others] will thrive,” said a spokesperson.
