Hull FC prop Liam Watts has been charged by the RFL’s Match Review Panel for a Grade B offence during Sunday’s 80-6 victory over Salford Red Devils. The 35-year-old front-rower has received a dangerous contact charge and has copped three penalty points. They are his first penalty points of the season.

Watts has also been fined by the MRP but no suspension follows, with the prop, who started his first game for Hull this year against the Red Devils, free to play against Leigh Leopards on Saturday evening.

Elsewhere, the MRP has handed out five other charges, including one suspension. Castleford Tigers forward Jeremiah Simbiken has been handed the one and only ban, meaning St Helens prop George Delaney has avoided any suspension after his high tackle on Wakefield winger Lachlan Walmsley on Friday night.

However, Delaney, who was sin-binned at the time, has been charged with a Grade C offence for head contact – one that carries with it five penalty points. They are the first points on the front-rower’s record this season, hence why no ban has followed.

The same can’t be said of Simbiken, who, despite only receiving a Grade A charge for a late hit on the passer – an offence that carries one penalty point – has been banned for one game. That is because his points total now stands at eight, putting him in the threshold for a one-match ban.

Elsewhere, there were fines for Salford’s Loghan Lewis and Leeds’ Morgan Gannon. Saints back rower Curtis Sironen has also been charged, but no further action has been taken.
