Séamus Power continued his strong form at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in Texas with a bogey-free 65 that keeps him in the upper reaches of the leaderboard going into the weekend – seven shots off Si Woo Kim who posted an incredible round of 60.
The Waterford man came into Friday’s second round off the back of a five-under 66.
Power built on that in style in a superb opening nine holes at TPC Craig Ranch. Teeing off from the 10th hole, the 39-year-old picked up back-to-back birdies on 11 and 12.
Another would follow on 14 before he went on a birdie run with three-in-a-row from 16 to 18.
Power was unable to keep that momentum going in his final nine holes however with no further birdies thereafter.
But he also avoided making any bogeys which leaves sitting on 11 under overall in a tie for 12th.
Kim is the runaway leader, seven shots ahead of Power and five ahead of a group in second containing fellow South Korean Sungjae Im, who started at the 10th and had a hole in one at his 16th hole and eagled the last to complete a 61.
Jackson Suber birdied his last two holes to also shoot 61 and join the group on 13 under par, alongside world number one Scottie Scheffler, Japan’s Kensei Hirata and former US Open champion Wyndham Clark.
Jordan Spieth landed six successive birdies to start his back nine en route to a 62 which left him among a group one shot further back.
Kim bogeyed the last hole to miss out on the 16th sub-60 round on the PGA Tour.
He holed a lengthy birdie putt on the 17th for his 12th birdie of the day to leave himself needing a par at the last for a 59.
His approach to the par four 18th, the hardest hole at TPC Craig Ranch in the opening two rounds, went over the back of the green and having chipped to 19 feet, he missed the par putt for his only dropped shot of the round.
