An aircraft sustained a flat tyre

An EasyJet flight was forced to divert to Manchester Airport this afternoon (May 24) following a incident at Liverpool John Lennon airport.
Tracking service FlightRadar reported that the flight, scheduled between the Isle of Man and Liverpool, squawked 7700 at around 4pm, indicating an emergency, before diverting and landing at Manchester.
An EasyJet representative later confirmed that this was due to the runway at Liverpool being closed temporarily, meaning that the flight could not land.

A spokesperson for the airport said that the closure was due to a light aircraft that landed on the runway and suffered a flat tyre, preventing other aircraft from landing until it was removed.
The runway reopened a short time later and is now running as normal, with EasyJet confirming that there were no issues with their aircraft. “Plane will refuel and take passengers back to Liverpool,” they said.
