Philip and James, also known as Pip and Jim, were ringed at Pershore Abbey on Friday (May 22).

Pip weighed 665g, whereas Jim weighed 528g.

The pair’s mother, Mrs P, made a racket throughout the process; however, the ringing went more smoothly than in 2025.

A spokesperson for Pershore Abbey said: “Say hello, everyone, to Philip and James, Pip and Jim.

“Weighing in at 665g and 528g respectively, both were successfully ringed this morning and checked over. As you can see from our previous years, the males tend to weigh in between 500-650g with the females around 850-900g. Female Peregrines are around a third bigger than males.

“Our thanks as always go to Heritage Stone Access and our County Ornithologists for all their help with ringing this year’s chicks. It is an enormous privilege for our Abbey Peregrine Team to be able to witness this and see the birds up close.

“Mrs P is just about calming down now so you can remove your ear defenders if you are in town. Mr P was trying to take it more in his stride but he’s had to do a few obligatory laps around the Bell Tower too to show willing. On the whole, they were slightly more chilled than last year.

“Jim very much takes after his Mother. Now we know why Pip takes a break from him whenever possible.”
