140KM TO GO: 15 TEAMS WITHOUT A WIN SO FAR
Four teams have dominated this Giro so far with Visma-Lease a Bike on five wins (Vingegaard x4, Kuss), UAE Team Emirates-XRG on four (Narvaez x3, Arrieta), and both Soudal Quick-Step and Astana on three apiece (Magnier x3; Silva, Ballerini, Bettiol).
Another four teams have one stage win each: Netcompany INEOS (Ganna), Lotto Intermarche (Segaert), Uno-X Mobility (Dversnes) and EF Education-EasyPost (Valgren).
That means 15 teams are still running on empty and looking to set the record straight – most notably the Lidl-Trek super-team, for whom Milan will look to break his duck tomorrow in Rome, Gee-West could target today, and Ciccone is in pole position for the blue jersey.
Elsewhere, the notable teams who remain emptyhanded are Movistar, Decathlon, Bahrain Victorious, Unibet Rose Rockets and, not least, Red Bull-Bora Hansgrohe. Will that change today, or will it be one of the usual suspects atop the podium?
