Manchester United beat all competition to Benjamin Sesko’s signing this summer and now RB Leipzig are shopping for a replacement.

Benjamin Sesko became the fourth major signing of the summer for Manchester United after completing a £66m move from RB Leipzig.

The 22-year-old Slovenian made his first appearance at Old Trafford over the weekend when he was unveiled moments before United beat Fiorentina via penalties.

Sesko was one of several striker targets for United, but Ineos will be delighted to have secured his signature ahead of Premier League rivals Newcastle.

After becoming a star in Leipzig, the Bundesliga side are now looking for a replacement and it seems their solution is a former United target.

During his time in Germany, Sesko was adored at Leipzig after joining at a young age and becoming a star.

Former coaches have nothing but praise for Sesko, and Ruben Amorim is already confident that his character is a good fit for his United squad.

He is going to be tough to replace, but Leipzig have set their sights on a Premier League star to try and fill Benjamin Sesko’s void.

According to The Guardian, Leipzig are considering a potential swap deal with Chelsea that includes Christopher Nkunku returning to his former side.

The report adds that Nkunku would be a replacement for Sesko following his move to Old Trafford.

Given that Chelsea are interested in Alejandro Garnacho, offloading Nkunku could also free up space for the Blues to get that deal done.

Man United were offered Christopher Nkunku this summer

During United’s search for new attackers, Nkunku’s name was one that popped up regularly.

Nkunku is considered an “elite” talent and has been on United’s radar for several years after he was first recommended by Ralf Rangnick.

There was talk of a potential Nkunku and Garnacho swap deal with Chelsea, but clearly Ineos felt they should look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.

United did hold talks over Nkunku, but ultimately the Red Devils set their sights first on Bryan Mbeumo and then on Sesko.

Weeks later, it seems Nkunku might now be heading back to Germany to replace Sesko.
