Arthrosamid has been described as ‘game-changing’ for patients with osteoarthritis and is now available at the private hospital, part of Circle Health Group.
Arthrosamid is a polyacrylamide hydrogel that can be injected into the knees to help patients with osteoarthritis, a condition that causes joints to become painful and stiff.
It is estimated that 8.5 million people in the UK (around one in five people aged over 45 in England) suffer from osteoarthritis, the launch of this new treatment, will ensure that those suffering with the condition have access to a non-surgical treatment.

Not every person suffering from osteoarthritis will be eligible for surgery. Arthrosamid represents an innovative solution for managing the condition, effectively relieving symptoms without the need for surgery.
The treatment is currently offered by Mr Aadil Mumith, consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Hampshire Clinic. Aadil has a sub-speciality interest in knee joint preservation, sports injury reconstruction and joint replacement surgery.
Following more than 20 years of clinical trials, Arthrosamid was approved to be used in the UK by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in 2021. Available at other Circle Health Group hospitals, this is the first time that patients at Hampshire Clinic will be able to access the treatment.
Package prices start from £2,889 for a single knee and from £5,536 for both knees. Patients looking to book with Hampshire Clinic can also add four physiotherapy sessions for an additional £220.
Aadil Mumith, consultant orthopaedic and specialist knee surgeon, said: “For many people living with knee osteoarthritis, persistent pain and reduced mobility can have a significant impact on everyday life.
“Arthrosamid offers an exciting and innovative non-surgical solution that can help reduce discomfort and improve joint function for suitable patients.

“The treatment works differently from traditional injections, providing longer-lasting pain relief. For patients who may not yet be ready for or may hope to delay knee replacement surgery, this can be a very valuable treatment pathway.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer Arthrosamid at Hampshire Clinic and would encourage anyone struggling with ongoing knee pain to seek specialist advice to see whether this treatment could help them regain confidence in their mobility.”
Heather Dob, executive director of Hampshire Clinic, said: “We are committed to being at the forefront of innovation, providing our patients with access to the latest technology and treatment options. Arthosamid represents a significant opportunity for us to meet the needs of thousands more patients each year. We launched the service on April 1 and look forward to supporting those suffering from osteoarthritis to get back to doing the things they love faster than ever.”
