Harlequins have announced Wales fly-half Jarrod Evans will leave the Gallagher Prem club this summer, ahead of a move back to Cardiff.
A return to the Arms Park has been on the cards for some time, with a deal understood to be done. The 29-year-old left Cardiff in 2023, after financial constraints left the club unable to offer a number of their top players competitive offers.
Since then, Cardiff have had to effectively rebuild from scratch – first under Matt Sherratt, then new head coach Corniel van Zyl this season.
Having had just eight players at their first pre-season session following Evans’ departure, he is now set to return to a side that just reached the United Rugby Championship play-offs for the first time.
Evans is one of 13 senior players to be leaving the Stoop this summer.

During his time in London, Evans – despite initially believing he was captured by the 25-cap rule – has gone on to revive his Test career under Sherratt and Steve Tandy.
Since being brought back into the Wales fold by Sherratt in last year’s Six Nations, he has gone on to win 10 further caps for his country.
He is a part of Tandy’s 48-man squad for the summer, with Evans likely to play a part in next month’s Nations Championship.
In his three seasons with Harlequins, Evans has played 48 times for the club, scoring 116 points.

He has been sidelined since April after suffering a shoulder injury against Bath.
Speaking about the club’s departures, Quins head coach Jason Gilmore said: “This point in the season is always emotional and can be difficult, because it gives us the opportunity to recognise and thank players who have made a huge contribution to Harlequins during their time at the Club.
“Each of these players has represented Quins with commitment, professionalism and pride, giving everything for the jersey and for their teammates. They should all be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved and the impact they’ve had on and off the field.
“We’ll come together as a group to celebrate and thank our departing players, and supporters will also have the chance to say their goodbyes at The Stoop on Saturday following our fixture against Northampton Saints.”
In Evans’ first stint at Cardiff, he was part of the side that lifted the Challenge Cup in 2018 – making 130 appearances for the Blue and Blacks between 2015 and 2023.
