Nine Doors Art Club & Gallery, located at 21/23 Princess Street, will officially open its doors at 8pm on Saturday, June 6, with a launch event featuring a collective exhibition.
The opening night will showcase work from artists at ABRAKADAVRA Tattoo Studio, highlighting a range of styles and disciplines.
The project has been led by artist Jorge Becerra, known professionally as jbecerra, who is based in Ipswich after moving from Spain.
Mr Becerra describes the space as more than a traditional gallery, with plans to create an ongoing hub for artistic collaboration and learning.
Nine Doors will host exhibitions, seminars and creative events, bringing together artists from different backgrounds and disciplines.
The venue also aims to provide free opportunities for local people, including lessons, workshops and access to art materials for those wanting to explore creativity.
Mr Becerra said the idea behind the project is to strengthen Ipswich’s artistic community and provide a space where people can connect and develop their skills.
He said: “There are so many talented people here who simply need a place to connect, create and feel inspired.”
The gallery is intended to welcome both established artists and beginners, encouraging shared learning and collaboration across the creative sector.
Mr Becerra also thanked local supporter Dr Sachin Karale for his role in helping bring the project to life.
He said: “Ipswich is a better town because he lives in it.”
The launch marks the beginning of what organisers hope will become a long-term cultural venue contributing to the town’s growing arts scene.
