Manchester United are reportedly frustrated about the situation surrounding Marcus Rashford’s future and a possible transfer to Barcelona. Rashford spent the season on loan with the La Liga club, and there was increasing expectation that the move would become permanent this summer.
The England international requested a transfer away from United last summer and was allowed to join Barcelona on loan, with an option to make the deal permanent included. He netted 14 goals and contributed 14 assists during his loan spell at Barcelona, but there are now doubts over where the United academy product will be playing his football next season.
The Spanish club have the option of signing Rashford for £26million, but time is running out if they wish to trigger the clause.

Rashford has previously stated his desire to become a Barcelona player on a permanent basis, which would see his career at United officially come to an end.
There has now been a fresh development regarding Rashford’s future, which may deal a blow to the 28-year-old’s hopes of returning to the Camp Nou this summer.
According to Spanish publication Sport, there is ‘anger’ from United that an agreement with Barcelona for Rashford has yet to be reached, and appears to be increasingly unlikely.
It has been reported that Barcelona initially wanted to negotiate a transfer for Rashford, with another loan being proposed by the player’s representatives, but no agreement was reached.

Barcelona’s €80million (£69million) signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle has thrown doubt on whether the Spanish club still need to sign Rashford this summer, given both players operate in the same position.
Consequently, it has been suggested that United are now reconsidering their stance on Rashford’s future, and are reportedly open to entering negotiations with Barcelona over a potential transfer having ‘acknowledged’ they are unlikely to receive the full £26m fee.
What ultimately lies ahead for Rashford remains unclear, with Barcelona said to no longer view a move for the England international as a priority during this window.
The Spanish giants have also been linked with a move for Bernardo Silva, who is set to depart Manchester City as a free agent this summer.
It has been suggested that signing Silva, alongside the deal for Gordon, would effectively rule out any prospect of Rashford making a permanent return to the Camp Nou.
However, recent reports indicate that Silva is unwilling to make any decision regarding his next move until after the World Cup concludes.
