Viewers of the latest Love Island episode likened it to ‘torture’ as they all posed the same question.

Tonight’s instalment (June 7) of ITV’s popular reality dating programme was expected to show the fallout from George Knight’s departure. However, fans observed that it took a considerable portion of the episode before he actually left.

Subsequently, Aidan made a desperate attempt to keep his options open with Ellie, but she firmly closed the door on any possible romance. Meanwhile, his younger brother, who is currently paired with Ellie, went on to tell both Robyn and Jasmine that they share strong sexual chemistry with him.

Yet Aidan was the first to stumble. Not only were there doubts about his kissing technique, but during a conversation about former partners with Yasmin, he accidentally called her Ellie.

It had already been revealed that two new contestants are arriving to lure all the boys out for cocktails. Their actions, though, were being carefully monitored, reports OK!

At the Villa, the girls are stunned when Jasmine receives a surprise text message. It states: ‘Girls, bad news, you’ve been stood up. The boys have gone to meet two new Bombshells.’

A follow-up text promptly arrives for Angelista, reading: ‘Good news, you’ll be able to watch them.’ The girls huddle around the screen to watch the boys interacting with Victoria and Namibia, but their genuine reactions soon become apparent. Ope admits he feels guilty towards the girls before confessing he is ‘sweating’ and has a ‘wandering eye’.

This prompts Angelista to ask incredulously “has he lost his head?” The girls accuse him of pretending to be respectful as he acknowledges he cannot trust himself.

Taking a more level-headed approach, Samraj says he is ‘excited for Sam’ who has been paired with Robyn in a friendship couple. Several of the girls declared they “were done” after observing their boys’ conduct.

Viewers at home were largely disappointed with the latest instalment. Many complained that it took far too long for the programme’s central drama to begin.

Others cringed at Aidan and Kavan’s antics. One viewer posted on social media: “OMG enough of this man what is going on?”

Another remarked: “Are you kidding me? 40 minutes of the Chuckle brothers, congrats producers for fumbling another season.”

While a third questioned: “Where are the challenges? Why is this turning into the Aidan show?” Someone else noted: “This episode seems like it’s been on for two hours already.”

One viewer simply moaned: “This is torture.” Another suggested: ” Love island UK this is why USA is eating you all up since season 10, like where are the challenges? Where are the male bombshells? You do not need to bring in more women for these terrible men.” Viewers were also left puzzled that despite the latest teaser announcing the arrival of two new bombshells, tonight’s episode only showed them in the closing five minutes.

Following the group date, audiences criticised the scene for appearing overly rehearsed and stilted. One Islander, however, seems to have landed themselves in hot water, with numerous fans forecasting that Ope will face the axe shortly. A viewer remarked: “Ope has shown his true self tonight. Get him out”

Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
