Mollie King has revealed she suffered a terrifying collapse at home, which led to her taking a period of leave from her BBC Radio 1 role after her absence sparked concern among listeners.
The singer-turned-presenter has been part of the radio network since February 2018, and currently co-hosts ‘Matt and Mollie’ alongside Matt Edmonson on Radio 1 from 1pm to 3.30pm, Monday to Thursday.
But she was recently replaced on the show and on Monday (June 8), as she prepared for her return, Mollie addressed her absence for the first time in an Instagram post.

She said: “Hi guys! So many of you have kindly messaged me over the past two weeks asking why I haven’t been on air – thank you so much for checking in! After coming home late from work, I suddenly collapsed unconscious on the bathroom floor at 4am, hitting my head and face as I fell. It was a huge shock and I ended up being rushed to A&E.”
Mollie, who shot to fame as part of girl group The Saturdays, went on to say that she was “grateful” her fiancé, retired cricketeer Stuart Broad, was there at the time to help “bring her round” after she fell.
She added: “A huge thank you to Amy and Hannah at St George’s Hospital who were absolutely incredible, stitching me up so well, and even managed to see past the Looney Tunes pyjama top I arrived in (Must buy new pyjamas!).

“It’s been a real wake-up call that I need to make some time to get my strength back, not just for my own health, but so I can be the best version of myself for my family too. Yesterday, was my first day doing anything social. After what has felt like a very long two weeks, it was amazing to get out and spend time with my girls. We even had the surprise of spitting Daddy on a big screen, which made us all smile.”
Mollie concluded her post: “Thank you so much to everyone who has checked in on me, and for all the lovely birthday messages too. Your kindness has meant so much. I can’t wait to be back on the radio with Matt today.”
In response to the post, Matt said: “We’ve missed you,” while she was also flooded with messages of love and support from her celebrity pals. Former bandmate Rochelle Humes replied: “Sending you [heart emojis],” while Una Healy commented: “Love you, get well soon and rest up.”
Melvin Odoom shared: “Sending love see you later,” while Dean McCullough posted: “Sending you all the love my babes. We’ve missed you,” and Vick Hope added: “Sending love Mollie.”
