Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium — or Lang Park to the locals — is another venue Barnes holds in the highest regard.
First opened in 1914 and completely transformed in 2003, the 52,500-capacity ground is famed for hosting rugby league blockbusters, big-stage union clashes and major football fixtures. It’s home to the Brisbane Broncos, Queensland Reds and Brisbane Roar.
Known for its steep, enclosed design that keeps fans close to the action, Suncorp is often hailed as one of the best rugby league stadiums on the planet.
Add in the concerts and cultural events it attracts, and it’s clear why it plays such a major role in Queensland’s sporting identity.
