Topping Barnes’ list is the iconic home of English rugby: Twickenham Stadium. Since opening in 1909, the ground has grown to a colossal 82,000 seats, making it the largest dedicated rugby union stadium in the world.
Twickenham has hosted some of rugby’s greatest moments, including Rugby World Cup finals, Six Nations showdowns and autumn international classics.
While best known for its rugby heritage, the stadium also draws huge crowds for concerts and large-scale events throughout the year.
Barnes said: “A short stroll from home. In the 2015 RWC semi-final, I walked to the stadium from my house with the other match officials.
“As I crossed the 316 bridge from the Stoop with my bag over my shoulder, I looked across to the West Car Park and thought this is pretty special.”
