The partial ban on electrical items has been in place at Norfolk’s recycling centres after Wiser Recycling at Thetford, which Norfolk County Council used to process many of the electrical items people take to tips, was hit by a major fire.
Some electrical items remain banned from recycling centres and Norfolk County Council says it is still working hard to “find new treatment contracts through the national scheme”.

Currently, washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, cookers, televisions, monitors and laptops can still be taken to recycling centres, but all other electrical items are not being accepted.
A spokesman for Norfolk County Council said: “Please continue to store waste electrical items at home and remember that batteries and electrical items should never be put in your household bins as they can start fires.
“We will provide an update as soon as we can accept them.”
District council bulky waste collections may also be affected and people have been advised to check directly.
