Hull FC ended a run of four successive defeats to hammer Huddersfield Giants 36-12 at the MKM Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Black and Whites scored 36 unanswered points either side of the Giants’ two tries with Ethan O’Neill scoring a brace and Logan Moy, Jake Arthur, Amir Bourouh, and Harvey Barron also touching down. Here are the ratings.
Logan Moy – In support to score Hull’s first try and showed a fair burst of speed to get over the line. Assisted another and played a key role throughout. Was solid again under the high bomb and took some really tough catches. Also defended well as the last line of defence and helped save at least one try with a last ditch tackle. A terrific performance. 9
Harvey Barron – The winger was solid. He carried tough throughout and made plenty of ground – and was also a threat in the air. Finished his try at ease in the second half. 7
Ethan O’Neill – The Leeds Rhinos loan forward was selected in the centre and did his job with no fuss. Scored two tries, played a key role in another, and ran hard throughout. 8
Lloyd Kemp – Threw himself into everything and didn’t back down. Solid again. Enjoying a stern run in the team right now. 7
Tom Briscoe – A solid display. Did his job to effect and got stuck in when needed in defence. 7
Jake Arthur – Grew into the first half and scored a try for good measure, interchanging passes with Jed Cartwright. He kicked well, chased hard, and linked with Sezer to help post more points in the second half. 7
Aidan Sezer – An error at the play of the ball put Huddersfield in position to score their first try, but the Hull captain responded well and did his bit to lead the side to victory. 7
Jeremiah Mata’utia – Started the game and got stuck in to effect. Went well. 7
Amir Bourouh – A superb break to set Moy up for Hull’s first try and for good measure scored a try with a fair scoot in the second half. The hooker, also playing a stint at loose-forward, was put on report in the first half for a tackle on Mattieu Cozza. Still, with the ball, that was as good as he has shown in a Hull shirt. 8
Harvie Hill – A try saving tackle on Fenton Rogers in the first half. That summed up his performance. Dogged. Tough. Tenacious. 7
Joe Batchelor – Solid with no fuss. Did his job. Carefully managed with his minutes after a monster effort at Warrington last week. 7
Jed Cartwright – A handful when carrying the ball, getting his arm free to offload for Arthur to score. A solid return to the side after a lengthy absence. 7
Will Kirby – His best game in Super League to date. He looked every bit at home at this level. Carried well, offloaded, and passed to effect. Also got stuck in defensively in a gritty eighty minute showing featuring spells in the back row. 8
Herman Ese’ese – More welcome minutes in the tank on his first home appearance of the season. Some strong carries and made plenty of metres. 7
Hugo Salabio – Left the field to a HIA. Limited action. He passed his assessment and then had a late cameo. 6
Will Hutchinson – Got two decent stints under his belt. Got involved and tried to run out of dummy half. 7
Max Wood – Thrown on early and was solid. Got through a load of work in both attack and defence and contributed to the win. 8
