A talented teenager is set to feature in the new season of a popular musical talent show due to hit the screens later this year.
Nairn singer-songwriter Sophie Boyne (14) has been selected to take part in Channel 4 TV series The Piano, which is presented by The Traitors and former Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman and pop star Mika.
The series focuses on the search for the UK’s best amateur pianists — and with filming recently finished, Sophie is looking forward to her small screen debut.
“I’m so excited to be appearing on The Piano,” she said.
“I’ve made some amazing friends and have learned so much. It’s been the best experience I’ve ever had.

“I can’t say anything really about what happens as it will ruin it for the audience.
“You’ll have to watch and see what happens!”
The past months have been a whirlwind for the talented Nairn Academy pupil.
After auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent she played for an array of events, including the Dornoch Gatherings, and was also asked to open for band Raintown, both in Nairn and Glasgow.
Last year Sophie also won Nairn Book and Arts Festival’s first young musician of the year award as well as musical talent charity event Highlands Got Talent.
Another big slot bagged for the young pianist is Belladrum 2026 where she is set to perform on the festival’s Free Range Acoustic Stage on Friday, July 31.
“I’m really excited to be playing at Belladrum, because I’ve never actually been so it’ll be really cool to play and go see the other music acts across the few days,” Sophie said.
“I’m most excited to see Callum Beattie and Mika, because I’m a big fan of both of them,” she said, having opened for the former at a show last year and worked with Mika on The Piano.
“Everything that has been happening lately in my music career feels quite surreal — it was pretty much a dream come true and hopefully these opportunities I’ve been given keep coming!”
