“I have had quite a few appointments at the surgery and the staff have always gone above and beyond to look after me, provide me with excellent care and support me.
“As someone with health anxiety, going to the doctors can be very difficult for me but the team are always extremely understanding and give me the time I need and support me when I have had appointments where I have been particularly nervous.
“They have an excellent approach to appointments and I’ve always been able to speak to or see a doctor quickly when needed.
“The surgery itself is well looked after and feels welcoming.
“I feel they deserve the recognition for the excellent services they provide to our community.”
Ben Kent, surgery senior manager, said: “We’re genuinely excited and very pleased to hear that Upton Surgery has been shortlisted for GP Practice of the Year.
“This nomination means a great deal to us and comes at a time when the environment faced by general practice is increasingly challenging with growing demand and rising expectations weighing heavily across the NHS.
“Recognition like this is therefore a real boost to morale for the doctors and the whole practice team.
“I’m incredibly proud that the hard work, resilience and commitment shown day in and day out across all roles within the surgery has been recognised. Upton Surgery provides care to around 12,500 patients across Upton and the surrounding rural communities.
“Over recent years we have continued to adapt and evolve the way we work to help meet increasing patient demand whilst maintaining safe, accessible and high-quality care for our patients.
“Whether that’s increasing the number of consulting rooms to improve patient capacity or designing and building our new wellbeing garden for patients and staff to enjoy, these achievements — and many others — have only been possible because of the dedication of our clinical, reception, dispensary, administrative and management teams working together.”
This year’s county awards have been launched by Newsquest which runs the Worcester News, Malvern Gazette, Evesham Journal, Bromsgrove & Droitwich Advertiser, Kidderminster Shuttle and Redditch Advertiser.
