The heartbroken family of a 17-year-old boy, who tragically lost his life after the moped he was riding collided with a tractor, have remembered him as their “wonderful son and brother”. Ronnie Tillot, from Chester, passed away on Friday, July 11 following the accident on Welsh Road, Dodleston, near the Wales border.
The tractor was being operated by a 19-year-old man from Wrexham. Emergency services were on the scene and endeavoured to save Mr Tillot, but sadly he succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision.
His family has issued the following statement: “As a family, we are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of a wonderful son and brother.
“Ronnie was the most compassionate, hardworking and just an all-round great kid. Our lives will never be the same. Ronnie will be truly missed by all his friends and family.”
Following the incident, a spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “Police and ambulance attended the scene, but sadly despite the best efforts of all those involved, the rider of the moped, a 17-year-old boy from Great Boughton, died at the scene.”
“His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers. The driver of the tractor, a 19-year-old man from Wrexham, was uninjured, and no arrests have been made at this time.
“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information to get in touch.”
Detective Sergeant Russ Sime described the event as an “absolutely tragic incident”.
He expressed his condolences, stating: “Our thoughts are with the family [of the] teenager involved,” and confirmed that enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing.
