Yastremska edged past a local favorite in straight sets, setting up a rematch with Tatjana Maria for a quarterfinal spot.
Dayana Yastremska, a Ukrainian tennis player, began her campaign at the grass-court WTA 250 tournament in Nottingham, held in Great Britain.
In the first round of the singles draw, Yastremska (No. 50 in the WTA rankings) defeated British player Alicia Dyundi (No. 248) 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).
The two players spent almost an hour and a half on court.
In the match to reach the quarterfinals, Yastremska will face German Tatjana Maria (No. 117), who defeated her in 2023 at the WTA 250 tournament in Hua Hin (Thailand).
It should be noted that the Nottingham tournament will finish on June 21.
