Mr Kelloggs, a miniature therapy horse from Linking Hearts Therapy Horses, visited patients at Alderney Hospital in Poole, which is run by Dorset HealthCare.
Patients on the St Brelade’s and Herm mental health wards, along with those attending the day hospital, were given the opportunity to stroke, pet and cuddle the horse during the visit.
Ruth Konda, therapies lead and physiotherapist for dementia inpatients at Alderney Hospital, said: “The horse brought so much joy to our patients.

“Animal therapy can offer significant mental health benefits, including reduced anxiety, improved mood, increased social engagement, and a sense of calm and connection.
“As well as the patients, staff had a brilliant time, and the positive impact was evident throughout the visit.”
