Combat2coffee’s golfing event at Rushmere Golf Club which had been set for Friday, June 26 will now no longer ahead due to risk to players, supporters and guests.
The organisation, which supports veterans of the armed forces and boasts Ipswich Town legend Terry Butcher as a patron of the charity, said that they “sincerely apologise” and that an alternative date is being organised.

They said: “It is with regret that we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Armed Forces Charity Golf Day, which was due to take place on Friday June 26 at Rushmere Golf Club.
“This decision has been made due to the forecasted high temperatures and prolonged sunshine expected on the day. The safety, health and wellbeing of all players, volunteers, guests and supporters is our absolute priority, and we feel it is the responsible course of action to ensure everyone stays safe and well.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and support.

“A new date is currently being arranged, and we will share details as soon as they have been confirmed. Please keep an eye on our social media channels for further updates.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported the event so far. We look forward to welcoming you when the Charity Golf Day is rescheduled.”

The golf day was supposed to mark the end of Armed Forces week, which began on Monday, June 22.
Combat2coffee marked the beginning of the week with hundreds attending the event in Ipswich.
Nigel Seaman, the founder of the organisation said he felt “very privileged and humbled” by the support shown, adding that the event was helping bring together both the armed forces community and the wider public.
