Some state pensioners may spot unusual payments landing in their bank accounts over the next few weeks.

The August bank holiday will result in payments arriving at different times for some people.

And it’s led to a warning for those expected to get their pension payments on the bank holiday, Monday, August 25.

These people should instead receive their payments on Friday, August 22, the closest working day beforehand.

And experts are reminding them they will need to make their money stretch further than usual due to the early payments, and that all bills are covered.

All DWP payments due on the bank holiday will be affected including Universal Credit, Pension Credit and PIP, as well as the state pension.

This because DWP payments are not processed on bank holidays.

Everyone else whose payment dates don’t fall on that date won’t be affected and should get their money as normal.

A spokesperson for Spencer Churchill said: “It’s vital that pensioners and benefit claimants are aware of any changes to their payment dates, especially around bank holidays.

“Missing a payment due to a simple oversight can cause unnecessary stress, particularly for those living on a fixed income.

“Receiving your payment earlier might seem like a good thing, but it also means that you’ll have to stretch that money further until the next instalment.
