1. Introduce a Captain’s Challenge

Cricket, tennis and rugby league have all shown that giving players a limited opportunity to challenge decisions can add drama without disrupting the flow of the game.

Rugby already relies heavily on technology, so why not let captains have a say?

Our proposal:

Each team gets one Captain’s Challenge per match.

If the challenge is successful, they keep it.

If it’s unsuccessful, they lose it.

Challenges can only be made by the captain and only for clear, reviewable incidents such as knock-ons, touch decisions or foul play.

It would give teams confidence that obvious mistakes can be corrected while cutting down on constant unsolicited TMO interventions.
