It’s been years since we last talked about ExoMecha here at Pure Xbox, during which time it was supposed to be getting ready for release, but ended up being delayed to 2022. Flash forward to 2025, and it’s still not out yet.
The developer is clearly still very passionate about this project though, and it’s undergone somewhat of an overhaul – it’s no longer going to be a free-to-play title, and it has a Kickstarter campaign to help get the project over its final hurdles.
You can check this out for yourself over on Kickstarter, where you’ll find a lot more details and screenshots about the game, along with confirmation that the price will be $19.99 at launch. This is apparently because ExoMecha doesn’t have a publisher to support a free-to-play release, although who knows what the future might hold.
“Online games are very expensive to launch, and we do not have a publisher that can support us to make this game free to play. That’s why, Exomecha will be $19.99 at launch. Hope you guys understand!
Exomecha started as a solo development journey, and then we became a very small remote studio. We want to build this game with you — not for someone else. We want our game to be the way our players want, not publishers. We need one final boost to cross the finish line.”
When it finally arrives, ExoMecha will take the form of a multiplayer shooter offering a “breathtaking sci-fi gaming experience” complete with 20v20 “Conquest” and 1v100 “Mecha Royale” modes.
Right now, the team is targeting a Q1 2026 release on Xbox and PC, and we’re assuming the Kickstarter campaign will pass its target very quickly indeed. As mentioned in the headline, the game is being advertised as an “Xbox exclusive” when it comes to console at the moment, and it remains to be seen whether that’ll be permanent or not.
We’ll throw more details about ExoMecha below, along with some brand-new screenshots.
