England are set to face DR Congo tonight in their first knockout match of the tournament, which kicks off at 5pm.
However, the early kick-off means plenty of employees will be eyeing a quick dash from the office to the pub to watch Thomas Tuchel’s men in action.
Ranvir Singh called on businesses to let workers leave early in order to catch the match.
Liam Gallagher was less than impressed by the suggestion.
He wrote on X: “Did RANVIR on GMB just say England fans who are working should be allowed to f*** off home early or am I hearing things?”
Ms Singh studied for a postgraduate degree at University of Lancashire before taking on roles at BBC North West Tonight and BBC News 24.
Since 2012, she has been the political editor of Good Morning Britain and has been chancellor of the University of Lancashire since 2017.
After a disappointing group stage, Tuchel has said he wants to send kids to be happy with a win tonight, but has warned their clash against DR Congo might not be the best viewing.
Group games against Croatia and Ghana kicked off at 9pm and Saturday’s win over Panama began at 10pm.
Wednesday’s clash is a lot more favourable for those viewers with school the next day and Tuchel wants to please them, even if he thinks DR Congo may try to spoil a free-flowing game.
“We love to entertain them. Maybe we need to define entertainment,” Tuchel said. “We don’t know what’s coming.
“I don’t want to ruin expectations, of course. Not everyone wants to play exciting football and front-foot football.
“But it can also be entertaining if you feel the spirit and the energy of the team, and everyone who is allowed to watch tomorrow, because they have to go to bed early normally, hopefully they feel the spirit.
“Hopefully they feel how much it means to this team. I see it every day, I feel it every day, and hopefully we can transmit it through the TVs and make them proud and happy.”
England will be hoping it does not turn into a late night, but they may need extra-time and penalties.
