Thick black smoke could be seen billowing into the air

A bus went up in flames on the East Lancs Road in Norris Green on Friday (July 3) afternoon. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) were called to the scene at the junction of Lower House Lane and East Lancashire Road around 4.25pm.
Three fire engines attended to put out the blaze on a double decker bus. The bus driver and passengers were evacuated safely and no injuries have been reported, the fire service confirmed.
A video of the blaze, shared with the ECHO, shows a red double decker Happy Al’s bus on fire. The flames can be seen coming from the back of the bus with thick black smoke billowing into the air.

The fire has since been extinguished and no traffic delays are reported in the area.
