A powerful striker of the ball, Gardner, in the company of Perry, snatched the game away from India as she answered fire with fire. She struck three fours and three sixes en route an unbeaten 53 as Australia overcame a tough start to cruise to victory with an over to spare.
Apart from that, she registered a half-century against the Netherlands and a superb finishing effort (35 not out) against the West Indies.
In the semi-final against, she had also chipped in with 2/13, dismissing big hitters Stafanie Taylor and Jahzara Claxton in one over, and was named the Player of the Match.
