Carlos Borges, a 22-year-old who works in tarmac reinstatement, joined partway through the 13th series of the dating programme.

He entered the villa on day 23, along with five other bombshells.

However, that group didn’t last long, as they all went home on day 26 after none of them were picked by existing contestants to couple up with.

Carlos had been talking to Priya, but she didn’t end up picking him when the recoupling occurred.

Carlos discusses “tough” Love Island experience

After his exit, Carlos discussed his time on the show with Media Mole.

Asked how it felt to leave the show so early, he said: “It feels tough because you want to go in there, find a connection and have an amazing experience.

“I did, don’t get me wrong, but it’s hard because I thought I had a good connection with Priya, and that we were getting on really well.

“And from the chats I was having with the boys and the girls, they were reassuring me all the time that I was her number one and she felt the most comfortable with me.

“So I was very confident that I was going to get picked.

“It’s definitely a bitter pill to swallow because I didn’t expect it.

“It’s still quite a shock, to be honest.”

Carlos was still glad to have taken part, as he shared: “It was an amazing experience and I’m so grateful to have done it.

“For me, it is the best show in the world.

“So to have done it is amazing.

“It was a dream for me.”

Finally, when he was asked if he formed any friendships, he said: “Yes, the Casa boys are friends for life.

“Tommy is my guy.

“I want him to win and bring it home for the boys.

“I’m rooting for him because he and Yasmin have got something amazing and I’m so happy for him.

“Will is like a brother to me, we grew close very quickly.

“I looked up to Jords too.

“He’s so funny, he’d have me in bits every day.

“In terms of him and Priya, I’m not going to be rooting for them.

“She picked someone who’s not even her priority.

“In terms of me and Jordon, we’re all good though.”
