Carlos Rodriguez and AJ August take top-10’s on the opening stage of the Tour of Austria.

An early break of four were caught in the final 16km of the 188km punchy stage, after strong pulls earlier in the race by Bob Jungels and Peter Oxenberg.

Attacks started to come as the peloton scaled the final climb of the day in Glanz, with Rodriguez and August going clear with a select group.

A sprint into the finish saw Rodriguez come home ninth, with August just behind in 10th, while Sam Watson sprinted from the group behind to finish 13th.

Tomorrow will see the riders hit the mountains, with the riders scaling the highest mountain in Austria, up the Großglockner.
