The Matchroom chairman says negotiations produced no agreements but opened communication while raising concerns over Zuffa Boxing’s spending

Eddie Hearn says recent talks between boxing’s leading promoters and Zuffa Boxing ended without any agreements but established a direct line of communication between both sides. He also claimed Zuffa Boxing has overpaid to sign several fighters, suggesting the company inflated the market unnecessarily.

“Did we get anything done or resolved? No,” said Hearn to iFL TV. “But since that meeting there’s more of an open line of communication.”

The discussions included Hearn, Frank Warren, Nick Khan and Turki Alalshikh. Hearn said the meeting was divided into two parts: one covering the relationship between established promoters and Zuffa Boxing, and another focused on Tyson Fury’s proposed fight against Anthony Joshua.

“There were two elements to the conversation,” Hearn said. “One was the conversation with Nick about Zuffa, and then there was another conversation separately about AJ-Fury and what we’re doing.”

Dana White did not attend the meeting. Hearn said Khan represented Zuffa Boxing because he oversees the company’s boxing operations.

“I’ve never really had a conversation with Nick Khan before,” Hearn said. “At least we were in a room for a couple of hours having a chat.”

Hearn also questioned Zuffa’s approach to signing fighters, arguing the company inflated the market by offering far more than necessary.

“I think they’ve realized that they’re massively overpaying the market price,” Hearn said. “Some of the numbers you’re paying, you could have literally paid a third of what you’re paying, and you would have got the same fighter. What are you doing?”

The meeting ended without any formal agreements, but Hearn said both sides left with a better understanding of each other’s positions.

“It wasn’t a super positive meeting,” Hearn said. “But I thought it was okay.”
