Coronation Street has revealed the moment Sarah Platt confesses to the murder of Theo Silverton, putting an end to Kit Green’s proposal.

Those who follow the ITV soap have known for a few weeks now that Sarah was uncovered as the one responsible for the villain’s demise, which took place back in April, before Theo’s lifeless body was found by a horrified Betsy Swain on the night of her mum, Lisa Swain’s, wedding to Carla Connor.

It was in February that the abuser was confirmed among the possible five victims of a murder set to rock the cobbles following a flashforward episode of Corrie, with Theo put up for the chop alongside Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh and Maggie Driscoll.

Eventually, a week after the wedding aired, and following a string of dramatic Corrie episodes, it was revealed that Theo was the one who had been murdered.

His death quickly triggered a murder investigation, and a ‘whodunnit’ has since been underway, with Corrie confirming Todd as a suspect, along with George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, Gary Windass and Danielle Silverton.

While what really happened on that fateful night was revealed to viewers in scenes aired in June, and Corrie fans later watched as Sarah confessed the truth to Todd, while Kit remained determined to pin Theo’s murder on his partner’s former flame.

Spoilers for next week’s Corrie have already revealed that after clocking Gary and Maria arguing on the street, Kit tells DS Lisa Connor-Swain he is suspicious of their behaviour, prompting Lisa to remind him he is off the case.

Meanwhile, an upset Maria confides in Sarah that her marriage is falling apart, which later leaves Sarah telling Gary that she is struggling with her guilt, but Gary begs her to keep quiet, otherwise he could go to prison. Soon, Sarah arrives home to find Kit has cooked a romantic lunch. Kit drops to one knee and asks her to marry him.

Now, a new spoiler video gives a first glimpse at the previously mentioned scenes, which you can play above, and shows Kit waiting for Sarah’s arrival home, where he has set up a romantic meal. Before launching into a typical proposal speech, Kit tells Sarah he feels like he’s the last person to know what’s going on in his partner’s life, and they just need to be honest with one another.

Sarah declared her love for her beau, before he dropped to one knee and pulled out an engagement ring, telling her she’s his “soulmate” and that he wants them to spend the rest of their lives together.

However, not able to keep herself together any longer, Sarah admits that she was the one who killed Theo, leaving Kit momentarily stunned.

Spoilers tell us that later in the week, Kit warns Sarah that her freedom is in Gary’s hands and that she needs to get hold of his phone so they can delete any data that might incriminate her.

With Sarah seemingly doing when Kit asks, he later secretly calls the guy tasked with wiping the data from Gary’s phone and asks him to forward any information he can find to his personal email address. On the street, DC McLaughlin tells Lisa that they’re ready to arrest Theo’s murderer.

When she was asked how she thinks Sarah would cope if she went to prison, actress Tina O’Brien, who has played Sarah since 1999, admitted: “I would be very worried for her. She might appear to be a ‘soft touch’ to hard criminals, and I worry she’d get into problems in there—especially if they found out she had a partner who was a police officer.”
