Julie MacLeod, who led West Suffolk’s community radio station RWSfm 103.3, began her radio career in July 2005 at Radio West Suffolk, the hospital station that later evolved into RWSfm.

She started by taking requests from patients before becoming a presenter and later joined the station’s management team.

“Beyond her exceptional broadcasting and leadership, she’s been incredibly supportive of our volunteers – often going above and beyond to offer personal encouragement and guidance.

“Her connection to the community has been outstanding, forging strong relationships with local businesses, OurBuryStEdmunds BID, charities, voluntary organisations, and local councils and councillors.”

Ms MacLeod played a key role in launching RWSfm 103.3 as a community station in 2010.

The station, which broadcasts from Bury St Edmunds, is run entirely by volunteers and is currently inviting applications for new presenters via its website rwsfm.co.uk.
