Coronation Street has shared details of what the immediate future looks like for Betsy Swain, as it was confirmed she suffered two life-altering strokes in scenes that left fans in tears.
There were emotional scenes during the latest edition of the ITV soap as the truth of the teenager’s health drama was revealed, as her mums, Lisa and Carla Connor-Swain, rushed to the hospital to be by her side.
As Corrie fans know, Betsy recently revealed to her best mate, Lauren Bolton, that she had been offered a place at a fashion college in London, before breaking the news to Dylan.

Betsy has since been seen wanting to spend more time with Dylan before her move, as the week got underway in Monday’s (July 13) episode of Corrie, after a disastrous attempt at cooking breakfast for Dylan, things seem tense between the pair.
After Dylan left, Betsy found him in the cafe and ended up asking him for some cooking lessons. Dylan ended up showing Betsy how to make a Bolognese when talk turned to their upcoming separation, with Dylan keen to assure his girlfriend that the long-distance wouldn’t come between them.
As Wednesday’s (July 15) episode of Corrie got underway, there were shock scenes as an ambulance pulled away from No.6, before it was revealed that Ryan Connor had discovered an unconscious Betsy on the kitchen floor.
She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed she had suffered a stroke. A devastated Lisa and Carla kept vigil by Betsy’s bedside as the aftermath of what she had been through became clear.
Once her condition had stabilised after she suffered a second stroke, doctors confirmed it had been caused by a blood clot, which was the result of neck artery damage from a temporary loss of circulation.

It has been confirmed that in the coming months, viewers will witness Betsy’s challenging recovery as she transitions from hospital to home and navigates significant life changes. Corrie says that the storyline will highlight the profound physical and emotional impact of a stroke at such a young age as Betsy battles to adjust to her new reality.
Spoilers for the rest of this week’s Corrie reveal that an upset Betsy begs Lisa not to blame Dylan for what happened. Meanwhile, when Sean Tully suggests to Dylan that they go together to visit Betsy, Dylan shuts the conversation down, leaving Sean suspicious. Later in the cafe, Sean is shocked when a furious Lisa turns on Dylan and blames him for Betsy’s collapse. And it’s not long before Lisa calls at the station and tells the desk sergeant she’d like to report a crime.
Dylan is then left upset when Lauren tells him that Betsy is in a bad way and doesn’t want to see him, but soon, a shocked Fiz Dobbs tells Sean that she has just seen two police officers arrest Dylan at the precinct. Unaware that Lauren told Dylan to stay away, Betsy is stunned to discover Lisa has reported him to the police.
Spoilers for what’s ahead in next week’s Corrie have confirmed that Brody Michaelis rounds on Dylan for spreading lies about him and makes it clear that if he were in Betsy’s shoes, he’d press charges with no hesitation. Meanwhile, Ryan tells Dylan some home truths, which make him question his part in what happened to Betsy.
Later, Dylan visits Betsy and tells her that he now accepts that he’s responsible for her condition and he couldn’t be more sorry. When a police officer arrives to take Betsy’s statement, a terrified Dylan makes himself scarce. As her recovery continues, Lauren Bolton visits Betsy in the hospital to find her struggling with her physio exercises. When Betsy admits she needs the loo, Lauren has to escort her, leaving the poorly teen deeply embarrassed.
