If you’re looking forward to next week’s Disgaea Mayhem for a slice of musou madness, then you may also be interested in NIS America’s upcoming four-player party game, Prinny Party: Going Overboard.
This takes characters and concepts from the Disgaea franchise and transforms them into a loosely Mario Party-esque board game-style experience.
The title’s due out officially in Japan on 12th November, but a Western release has been confirmed with a release date “to be announced” in the future.
Here’s how the press release pitches this project:
“In Prinny Party: Going Overboard!, a four-player party game, you and your friends will do whatever it takes to defeat the Supreme Overboard and his Protago-Knights! In practice, it’s quite simple: move around the board, earn experience, acquire more powerful equipment, and turn in quests to stay ahead of the curve. Then, when a boss spawns, work together to take him down!
But friendships don’t last long in Prinny Party: Going Overboard! Only the player who brings the boss back to spawn gets the credit, so do whatever it takes to be the hero!”
This definitely seems a great deal more complicated than a traditional board game-inspired outing, as it’s fusing RPG elements from the main Disgaea franchise.
But that could give it good legs if you’re looking for something a little deeper than a Mario Party clone.
Is this the kind of game that’s on your radar at all? Take a look at the trailer and let us know in the comments section below.
