Ireland head coach Andy Farrell, speaking to ITV: “Inaccurate is the word. Continuity, it just wasn’t flowing for a number of reasons: spilled ball, throwing the ball into touch, etc. The character and fight is there for all to see, hence the comeback against Australia, but you can’t make that many errors against New Zealand. Congratulations to them.”
On blooding players in the Nations Championship: “When injuries occur, there is an opportunity to bring a few lads who have never been to this side of the world and give them that experience.”
On New Zealand: “Dave is a fantastic coach, you can see what they are trying to do. He wears his heart on his sleeve. With the speed of ball and movement, it was hard to handle for us. We have to look how we adapt and do things better. We will re-assess and learn for next year.”
